Obituary for Lanz Winton Hartfeil Lanz Winton Hartfeil, 47, who grew up in West Linn, Oregon, passed away unexpectedly from sepsis on Wednesday, 5 December 2018. Lanz was born in Portland, Oregon, on 30 November 1971, to Adolf and Barbara Hartfeil. Lanz was a graduate of West Linn High School, attended Clackamas Community College, Eckerd College and graduated from University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing.

Lanz was a Renaissance man who loved poetry, photography, hunting/fishing/crabbing, traveling, and entrepreneur enterprises. His greatest contentment was always when he was with his daughter Hannah. Lanz loved being surrounded by family and happily made them wonderful feasts of steak and seafood whenever possible.

He had a quick-wit and intelligence that made conversations with him a delight, and at times, a friendly debate. Lanz was playful and a fun-loving man who was well-known for playing pranks on his daughter and nephews. He always had a ready smile to whomever crossed his path.

He loved mentoring the people who worked for him for 17 years at Waste Management and felt a personal responsibility to help them improve their careers. Lanz is survived by his parents, Adolf and Barbara Hartfeil of West Linn, Oregon; sister Kristie Hartfeil of West Linn; daughter Hannah Hartfeil of Holland, PA and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins from the nearby metropolitan area. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gustav and Christine Hartfeil of Oregon City, Oregon, and Hilding and Audrey Winton of Milton-Freewater, Oregon.

A Celebration of his Life will take place Saturday, December 15th, from 11 until 1 pm, at Hillside Chapel, 1306 Seventh Street, Oregon City, OR 97045. Public viewing will be available from 10 until 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ducks Unlimited to conserve and protect threatened waterfowl habitat or Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation, OHSU.
