Lawrence F Jensen (Larry), our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away April 27, 2019 at the Sandy Health and Rehab Center. A family member was there with him every day and evening. He was born December 22, 1932 in Murray Utah, to Soren Lorenzo and Ortence Fitzgerald Jensen.

He was the last to be born to this union of seven children. Much love was felt as he entered this loving family. Lawrence attended Draper Elementary, Draper Jr. High, and Jordan High School.

He was the drum major for the bands of Draper Jr. High and Jordan High School for all 6 years. He followed in the footsteps of his brother; Ralph and sister, Maurine to be drum major. He enjoyed being the leader of the band and it was at the Draper Celebration that he met the love of his life, Eva LaDean Ekins, of Sandy who was a member of the Sandy band.

They courted throughout high school. They were married, after senior year, on November 1, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. A year later he was drafted in the U.S. Army.

It was during the Korean conflict. He went to Fort Ord California for basic training and was sent to Newfoundland at Harmon air force base as a truck driver and crane operator to help build a Newfoundland air base. When he returned home, he started a trucking Company and worked with Buehner Block Company for 40 years hauling their sand, gravel, and light weight aggregate.

The name of his trucking company was Lawrence F. Jensen Trucking. He was instrumental in training many drivers to operate trucks with safety. Including his wife, LaDean Jensen, son-in-law, Michael Goff, daughter, Cindy Jensen Goff, and son, Mark Jensen.

Lawrence was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a firm testimony of his savior Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. It is his sincere desire that his family come to know Jesus and Heavenly Father as he did. Larry was very active in the church and had many callings throughout his life.

Lawrence and his wife, LaDean Jensen were called on a Proselyting Latter-day Saint mission to Forth Worth Texas, later the mission was split and was called the Lubbock Texas Mission where they served in the office. Lawrence was the vehicle coordinator and LaDean as the Mission President’s secretary. A delightful time was spent in the state of Texas; many inspiring moments were felt as they served the Lord.

Lawrence and his wife, LaDean Jensen served in the Jordan River Temple as well as the Draper Temple. The Draper Temple calling was cut short because they were then called on a service mission to the Lancer Way Ward in West Valley City, Utah. They were delighted to spend time in the service of the Lord, helping those who needed help and gaining many wonderful friends.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Eva LaDean Ekins Jensen; their lives were enriched with five children: Fawnette (Dale) Garner, Cindy Lee (Michael) Goff, Lesa Rae Patterson, Sherri LaRie Taylor, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Having their family grow is one of the greatest joys to life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Soren Lorenzo and Pearl Ortence Fitzgerald Jensen, sisters, Wilda Smith, Erma Ipsen, brothers, Walter Jensen, Kenneth Jensen, Ralph Jensen, a sister-in-law Grace Jensen, brother-in-law, Kay Ipsen, Verron Smith, Darrel Lloyd, a sister-in-law, Carol Jensen, son-in-law Cary Patterson, grandsons Donavon Goff, Jeremy Patterson.

This wonderful man will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Corner Canyon 1st Ward, 13006 Boulter Street, Draper UT.
