Larry Kincade, 73, of Mansfield, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018, surrounded by family. A service will be held in the chapel at First Methodist Church Mansfield on Wednesday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. An additional celebration of life will be scheduled in Visalia, Calif.

in early 2019. Larry was born on April 3, 1945 in Tulare, Calif. to Tony and Eunice Kincade.

He grew up on the family cotton farm and graduated from Tulare Western High School in 1963. Larry went on to graduate from San Jose State University in 1969. After college, Larry moved to southern California where he met and married Grace Dibble.

They were married in 1976 and had a home in Anaheim where Grace taught elementary school and Larry worked as a store manager for Thrifty Drug. Their first child, Christy, was born in 1978. Their second child, Travis, was born in 1980.

In 1981, Larry and Grace moved with their two children to Visalia, Calif. so Larry could help with the family farm. Soon after, their third child, Grant, was born.

Larry farmed for several years until the late 1980s when he went back to work as a store manager for Thrifty Drug (now Rite Aid). Larry worked as a store manager until his retirement in 2007. During their time in Visalia, Larry, Grace and their children were active in the Visalia United Methodist Church.

Larry was proud of his service to the community through his long-time membership in the Visalia Host Lions Club, where he held many offices and served as president from 1993-1994. Larry and Grace enjoyed spending time with family and traveling. They traveled across the U.S., often to visit family, as well as to Mexico, Canada, and multiple trips to Europe.

After his retirement in 2007, Larry and Grace moved to Mansfield, Texas to be near their grandchildren. Shortly after, Grace lost her long battle with breast cancer. Throughout Grace’s illness, Larry was always by her side, sharing his love and support for her.

In 2009, Larry met and married Barbara Coombs Whitney. They were married in the First Methodist Church of Mansfield where they were both members. Larry and Barbara made a home together in Mansfield with their two dogs, Scooter and Ginger.

There they hosted many family gatherings and enjoyed gardening and spending time in their yard observing the abundance of nature. Larry and Barbara enjoyed many trips around the country to visit family and see the sights. Larry’s grandchildren were the light of his life and he was a devoted fan of their many activities.

He could often be found in a lawn chair behind home plate eating sunflower seeds at his grandsons’ baseball games. It was just as likely to find him dressed up in a suit enjoying his grandkids’ band concerts, plays, and awards ceremonies. Larry also enjoyed regular video calls with his grandkids in other states.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Tony Kincade, and wife, Grace.
