Laura Lynn Wenger was born November 26th, 1970 to Michael and Kathy Alderson. She grew up in Portland, Oregon and eventually moved to Sandy, Oregon in a home her father built. She attended Fir Wood Elementary.

Laura began her walk with Christ when she was 13 years old, after her family was invited to attend church at Metro Church of Christ. She became a Christian who loved God and spread his message by showing others kindness and care. Her faith would see her through all the trials she would face.

Laura was very involved in the Metro youth group and she always spoke about the great adventures she had with them. She went to fun places and met friends that she would have for the rest of her life. She attended Sandy High School and was very involved, participating in National Honor Society, cheer, and many clubs.

Laura graduated with honors in 1989. She attended Cascade Christian College and eventually went to Mt. Hood Community College.

Soon she began working at Chicago Title Insurance as an escrow assistant. This is where she would meet Casey, “the supply guy”. To her surprise, he was actually the Administrative Assistant.

The two began dating after an office event was planned and no one else showed up (purposely) to get them together. They became engaged right after Valentine’s Day in 1994. They got married the same day as her parents (only 29 years later) on September 24th, 1994.

The first couple years of marriage Laura was able to enjoy lots of fun trips with Casey. Soon enough kids came along. First Aaron Michael was born in 1998 and then came Amy Lynn in 2000.

Laura participated in her kids’ lives and volunteered at almost every single event. She never missed a sports game and was always at every music concert for her kids. She served others before herself.

She loved family events and organized many outings, including her Great Aunt Dee’s birthday in Minnesota and the annual camping trips. Laura’s favorite place to visit was Disneyland. Her family went to Disneyland together many times.

Laura was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in May of 2016. She was so healthy and loved walking the hills near Sunnyside. She fought hard by doing treatments for two and a half years.

It was unbelievable because most people couldn’t even tell she was going through chemotherapy treatments. She never let others catch on to how hard chemotherapy treatments affected her. She just kept fighting on.

During the years of treatments Laura was able to go to Hawaii with family, see both her kids graduate from high school, and continued her life as normal as possible. She never stopped volunteering. One of her favorite things was to volunteer with the Portland Singing Christmas Tree.

She began when Amy started singing in the choir in 2010. She loved her friends there and she loved the music. She was an exceptional friend.

There was no one who loved and cared about a person more than Laura. She instantly cared so deeply for someone and did everything she could to make a person feel special. Laura passed away December 21st, 2018 at 8:00pm.

She was and will always be a light to everyone she touched. She saw the world through a colorful and fun lens. She saw the positive side of any situation and always gave a person the benefit of the doubt.

Laura was deeply loved by everyone around her and especially by her family. Casey, Aaron, and Amy will always remember the love she gave them.
