Obituary for Laura Morayne Rivette Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Center. Age 88 years. The daughter of the late Charles and Iola (Luplow) Spencer, Laura was born October 28, 1929 in Zilwaukee, Michigan.

She married John (Mike) Rivette on October 1, 1949. He predeceased her January 25, 2001. Laura was employed at the Saginaw News for two years and as a bus aid for the Saginaw School Board of Education until her retirement in 2004.

She was a member of St. John Paul II Parish where she served as a Catechist. Laura was also a member of St. Matthew Altar Society and the League of Catholic Women. She enjoyed reading, her flower garden, watching golf and Tiger Baseball on television.

Surviving to cherish her memory are one son, two daughters and their spouses, Rolland Gerard (Lori) Rivette, Saginaw; Geralyn (Edward) Stelzer, Zilwaukee; Charlene Rivette and her husband Brendan Murphy, Chicago; eight grandchildren, Jamie (T.J.), Jason, Jenny (Mike), Todd (Jenny), Ryan (Megan), Christopher, Trisha and Kerri (Dennis); 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers, Suzanne (Edward) Murawski, Pinconning; Kathleen (Lynn) Sweazey, Saginaw; Rolland Spencer, Zilwaukee; Terry (Pat) Spencer, Baraga, Michigan; John (Jacque) Spencer, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Karen Spencer, Zilwaukee; many nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by two sisters, Sally Burke and Charlene Spencer and by a brother, Charles (Bud) Spencer Jr., and by her sister-in-law, Debbie Spencer, and brother-in-law, Ed Burke. Honoring Laura’s wishes, Laura’s anatomical donation was made to the University of Michigan Medical School.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at St. John Paul II Parish, St. Matthew Catholic Church, 511 W. Cornell St., Zilwaukee, Michigan. Rev. Fr.

James Bessert will officiate. Friends may call at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Zilwaukee on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center (www.
