OBITUARY LaVaun Whitney Worthen LaVaun Whitney Worthen returned to her Heavenly Father peacefully on December 17, 2018. She was born April 8, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Newel Kimball Whitney and Marguerite Cotterell. She married Robert Deane Worthen on July 3, 1943, and was later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 22, 1965.

He promised her the world and he kept that promise as they lived in many places. She was a graduate of the University of Utah where she was affiliated with Spurs, KUED, and Delta Gamma Sorority. She was always learning.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many Church callings including Stake Primary President, Stake Young Women President and a member of a Stake Relief Society Presidency. She was also a seminary teacher. Together, she and her husband presided over the Peru Lima North mission.

They also served two temple missions; in Auckland, New Zealand and Washington D.C., and two service missions. They served together in the Salt Lake Temple for many years. She is survived by one son, Jeffrey S. Worthen (Stefani), daughter -in-law Jeannie, 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and son Mark W. Worthen, as well as her parents and sisters: Muriel Rockwood (Lewis) and Ruth Rohde (Jack). She was a tiny lady with a power packed personality. She was a valiant woman who endured to the end.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS meetinghouse at 2550 West 9800 South, in South Jordan, UT. There will be a viewing prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 at the same location. Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah at about 2:30 pm.
