LaVoy A. Krukow, 90, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away early Sunday, December 9, 2018, at Maggie’s House Assisted Living in DeWitt. Mrs. Krukow, the former LaVoy Arlene Schlotfeldt, was born August 12, 1928, to Arthur and Evyline (Dohrmann) in McCausland, Iowa. She graduated from DeWitt High School.

LaVoy married Merlyn Krukow on March 30, 1947, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt. She was a homemaker and later worked alongside her husband in various business ventures, including a grocery store, Snack Shack, Fairyland Ballroom, an ice cream shop, and truck gardening. Merlyn preceded her in death in 1989.

LaVoy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. She was a talented artist and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, china painting, oil painting and many other hobbies. She also enjoyed music, dancing, playing cards, and wintering in Arizona.

She was an excellent baker and was known for her pies, rye bread, and cream puffs. LaVoy especeially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Mitch (Julie) Krukow of DeWitt; grandchildren, Cory (Rachael) Krukow, Ryan (Larissa) Krukow, and Kellie (Scott) Backes; great-grandchildren, Carver, Hudson, Gavin, and Halston Krukow, Lane, Ella, Abe, and Coy Krukow, and Rylan, Reid, and Rhett Backes.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Arrangements are pending in the care of Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.
