Obituary for Lawrence “Lawrie” Morrill Sr. Berwick Lawrence C. “Lawrie” Morrill, 92, of Berwick, died peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Berwick on June 15, 1925, a son of Charles Olin and Bessie Emma (Farrington) Morrill. He grew up in Berwick on the family dairy farm on Pine Hill Road.

On November 9, 1946, he married Dorothy Margaret Spittle, to whom he was introduced at the family farm. Their wedded life spanned an amazing 71 years. Lawrie worked the farm and Beaver Dam Sawmill in his early years, and then drove a school bus in Berwick for over 30 years.

He was often described as “a man of patience”. He enjoyed tending his animals and driving his oxen team. He also raised and milked goats well into his senior years.

Lawrie and Dot were long time members of Berwick United Methodist Church, and the Riverside Grange. Lawrie was Master in 1951, helped set up the vegetable stand for many years, and brought his goats and steers to the Acton Fair every year. He is predeceased by his brothers, Vincent and Leon Morrill; four sisters, Vivian Hussey, Doris Plante, Florence Estes, and June Hobart; a granddaughter, Jessica Morrill.

Lawrie is survived by his lovely wife of 71 years, Dorothy M. Morrill of Berwick; two sons, Michael Morrill of Berwick, Lawrence Morrill, Jr., of Somersworth; two daughters, Ellen Chambers of Berwick, Patricia Laplume and husband Dennis of Berwick; a sister, Joan Prince of Berwick; seven grandchildren, Cheryl Burns, Michael Morrill, Jr., Charles Morrill, Brandon Morrill, Derek Laplume, Matthew Laplume, Kelsey Laplume; seven great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. A Combined Memorial Service for both Lawrence Morrill and his brother Leon Morrill, will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Berwick United Methodist Church, 37 School Street, Berwick. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick.
