Lawrence J. Fenlon of Manahawkin NJ formerly of Old Bridge passed away on April 29. Born in Jersey City to the late Lawrence and Elsie, Lawrence was a proud Veteran of the Unites States Navy serving in Korea. He worked for Bell Atlantic in Jersey City for 25 years as a toll line tester then to New Brunswick where he worked for 15 years as a switchman until his retirement.

A man of many talents and interests he enjoyed being on the water whether it be swimming, boating, deep sea fishing or surf casting. He was an expert in Marquetry. He enjoyed travelling throughout the United States and experiencing the grandeur and splendor of America.

He also took time to travel abroad visiting Ireland, Switzerland, Germany and Aruba. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Tin Can Sailors Association of NJ, he was a County Committeeman, a Union Delegate for Local 827 IBEW as well as a Special Police Officer for Old Bridge. Lawrence is survived by his children; Brian, Craig, Kevin and Jean Fenlon-Leechan.

His son Lawrence pre deceased him. He also leaves behind his 5 grandchildren and his 5 great grandchildren. His sister Claire Broach also pre deceased him.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Wednesday May 8, from 2:00-4:00pm & 7:00-9:00pm at the Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, 3377 US Highway 9 Old Bridge. Committal services will be private. Contributions in Lawrence’s memory may be made to either the Wounded Warrior Project or the Disabled American Veterans Association.
