OBITUARY Lawrence Justin Jackman May 17, 1933 – November 16, 2018 Larry J. Jackman, age 85, died November 16, 2018 in Maitland, FL. He was born in The Bronx, NY on May 17, 1933. He is survived by his wife Sharon, his sons, Marc Jackman and David Vose, son-in-law David Fisher, grandchildren Sam Abramson, Stephanie Abramson, Rachel Abramson and daughter Melissa Abramson.

Larry graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in 1951. He graduated from New York Uni-versity, Washington Square College in 1955 where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

While enlisted, Larry became a pilot flying T34 and 28s at Malden Air Base in Missouri. He then went on to Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas to fly B25s. He then transitioned to Douglas C124s at West Palm Beach, Florida.

With a permanent assignment to Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California he flew to Japan, the Philippines, and throughout the Orient. Larry was a proud mem-ber of the Quiet Birdman (QBs) since 1985. Larry left the Air Force in 1960 as a Captain and became involved in the real estate business in Northern New Jersey.

He moved to Orlando, Florida in 1968 where he continued in real estate development. Larry became active in the Kiwanis International, a global volunteer organization. He also served as a Seminole County Juvenile Arbitrator.

In the early 1970s Larry became an avid motorcyclist. Over the next twenty years he would trav-el the US covering over 500,000 miles, which coined his nickname “Iron Butt”. Larry was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.

Larry also became a motorcycle instructor for the Florida Safety Council for fifteen years. Larry continued to fly small planes in Florida and for many years, he was a traffic pilot announc-er for radio station, WDBO in Orlando. He was referred to as Captain Larry Jackman.

Over the years he also became involved in community service, served as Arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau and became a Certified Hearing Officer in Seminole County, Florida. Larry was also the past president of the Mercedes Benz Club of America. To commemorate Larry’s 75th birthday he took a tandem parachute jump.

Larry belonged to the Elks Lodge (1079 and 1830). Larry loved to travel and he and Sharon have transversed the globe. The Jackman family will be welcoming friends and family on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 9:30am at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home East Altamonte Chapel.

A funeral service will be held in Larry’s honor at 10am with reception to immediately follow. Larry will later be laid to rest at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL at 2:30pm.
