Lawrence R. Stafford, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 12, 2018. He was born on June 6, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Keith DeWitt Stafford and Marjory (Brugman) Stafford. He graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1955.

He retired from Advance Auto Parts in 1999 where he was the manager of the Greenwood Store. On August 22, 1983 he married Carol (Weaver) Stafford. Lawrence was a past President of the Morgan County Fair and 4-H Association and also the Morgan County Pork Producers.

He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church of Martinsville. He more recently attended Emmanuel, Banta Campus. Lawrence was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2015.

He was an active member of “The Climb” at Mt. Pleasant Church Life Center. This group was an exercise / motivational group for people with Parkinson’s disease.

He actively participated in this for almost 3 years. Survivors include his wife, Carol (Weaver) Stafford; daughter, Donna (Joel) Holyoak of Allen, Texas; sons, Mike (Jody) Stafford of Morgantown and Jim (Dawn) Stafford of Martinsville; step son, Ryan Kirk of Mooresville; sisters, Marcia (Carl) Blackwood of Beech Grove, Mary Lou (Duane) Hallman of Anchorage, Alaska, Cathy (Paul) Shaffer of Lewiston, Idaho; eight grandchildren, Curtis Culver, Cameron (Katy) Culver, Jacob Holyoak, Hannah Shields (Andrew) Jeffreys, Rachel Shields, Abigail Shields, Lydia Shields, and Dylan Clephane; four great grandchildren, Chloe Culver, Bennett Culver, Carlisle Culver, and Aiden Jeffreys; and son-in-law, Doug (Cynthia) Shields. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen (Stafford) Shields.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018 at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15 at the funeral home, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Greenwood Cemetery.
