Lawrence Worrell, 89, passed away on “Monday” April 29, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Lawrence was born in Wayne County on June 16, 1929 to the late Kirby and Pearl Turner Worrell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Virginia Phillips Worrell.

Lawrence retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 43 years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Lawrence loved gardening and growing things.

He nurtured people and plants with equal care. Lawrence opened his heart to anyone who needed to be cared for. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Lenny Reagan officiating.

Lawrence is survived by her daughter, Anita Lamberth; son, Chris Worrell; four grandchildren, Scott, Christina, Ross and Jesse; four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Pearl and Elizabeth; and many nieces, nephews and cousins he loved very much. He was preceded in death by another son Robin Dale Worrell. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
