OBITUARY Lela E Rotenberry March 9, 1926 – December 3, 2018 Lela Elizabeth (White) Rotenberry, age 92, of Woodstock, AL died peacefully December 3, 2018 at UAB PCCU in Birmingham, AL. She was born March 9, 1926 to Thomas and Minnie (Lawrence) White. She was a member of Mission Baptist Church.

Lela was a loving, caring mother, MamMaw, “Aunt Lela” and friend. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec 5, 2018 from 4:30 to 8 PM at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel in Centreville, AL. Funeral service will be at 11 AM on Thursday, Dec 6, 2018 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Kinard Cemetery.

She is survived by her son, Joe Pierson(Deborah) of West Blocton from her first marriage to Jessie “Buck” Pierson; daughter, Libby Rotenberry Burns of Woodstock; children from her husband’s first marrage to Ella Medders Rotenberry; son, Bob Rotenberry of Woodstock; daughters, Sarah Rotenberry Knight of Woodstock and Sandra Rotenberry Syester(Kenny) of Lizton, IN; daughters in law, Sue Rotenberry of Hueytown and Sharon Rotenberry of Green Pond; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild due in May; a very close friend, Dennis Warren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rotenberry, Jr.; son, Steve Rotenberry; step-son, Bill Rotenberry; sons in law, Robert Knight and Ronnie Burns; her parents, 8 brothers and 3 sisters. She was a graduate of West Blocton High School Class of 1947.

She played softball until the age of 62 and was also a coach for many years. She was on a special team known as the “Bluebirds”. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service where she was a Rural Mail Carrier and a member of the Alabama RLCA.

She also drove a bus for the Bibb County School System. She was the Secretary/Treasurer of Kinard Cemetery. She was known for her strawberry and lemon pound cakes.

She enjoyed baking, tending her flowers/plants and giving to others. Pallbearers will be grandson, Bryan Rotenberry, Michael Parks, Lee Knight, Chris Syester, Kyle Pierson, Adam Rotenberry, Ken Griffin and Loran Kinard. Honorary Pallbearers are her church family, her neighbors, the JOY Group and Mark Foster.
