Mrs. Lela Mae Pugh Gilmore answered her Master’s call on December 18, 2018 while at Jackson Medical Center in Jackson, AL. Born March 16, 1925 to Make and Ella Williams Pugh, she was 93 years of age. She was educated in the Clarke County School System and loved sewing and quilting.

She was a member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Salitpa, AL formerly serving as church secretary. Preceding her in death are her husband, Walter Gilmore, Sr.; parents, Make and Ella Pugh; granddaughter, Kristal McDougle; siblings, Eloise Dunnigan, Emily Pugh, Theodore Pugh, Sidney Pugh, Leslie Pugh, and Marie Chapman. Left to forever cherish her precious memories are her children, Walter Gilmore, Jr. and Ella (Charlie) Chapman, both of Detroit, MI, Vina Cunningham, and Mary (Joseph) Jackson, both of Jackson, AL, and Valeria (Gary) Campbell, Salitpa, AL; a sister, Bernice Williams, Detroit, MI; sixteen grandchildren including Niyah, Kiyah, and Sylvia; and a host of other relatives and friends.
