Obituary for Leland “Mr. Lee” Pellegrin, Jr. Leland Louis Pellegrin Jr. With great love, the family of Leland L. Pellegrin Jr. announces his passing from this life into the arms of our Heavenly Father. Leland was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Avondale, LA for over 40 years where he was a parishioner of St. Bonaventure Church. He was a graduate of Warren Easton High School.

He served in the United States Air Force for 7 years and was honorably discharged on 02/04/1963. Leland worked most of his days, sometimes two and three jobs to provide for his beautiful wife and loving family. He devoted over 20 years of service to the New Orleans Fire Department (retired), to the States Items – Times Picayune Newspaper, United Cabs of New Orleans and his most recent retirement came from Napa Auto Parts back in May 2018.

He is a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters, Veteran Fire Fighters Association, Inc., The American Legion and Red Knight Motorcycle Club Louisiana 1. Born on January 12, 1940, Leland was the son of the late Rosemary & Leland L. Pellegrin Sr He was preceeded in death by his loving, beautiful wife of over 50 years, Joycelyn Anthony Pellegrin.

He is survived by their two children Leland L. Pellegrin III and Jamie Pellegrin Hauck as well as his Son In Law and Friend, Kenneth “Todd” Hauck. Leland was also blessed with 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Angelle’, Joshua, Joyelyn, Cami, 2 step grandchildren, Chris and Amanda, as well as 11 great grandchildren, “Lil” Rob III, Aubrie, Alaina, Silas, Noah, Caleb, Calen, Payton, Hunter, Londyn and Carlynne. Leland was also preceeded in death by one sister, Lydia Pellegrin Blaine and survived by his sister, Mary Jane Pellegrin Little.

Leland touched many lives with his fun, caring, giving and loving ways over the years. He will be remembered as a loving husband and devoted Dad and Paw-Paw. He put his family and others first and was truly a gift to all who was blessed to know him.

He was our Superman, our Hero, our gift from God. Leland passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, September 18th, 2018 at the age of 78. Relatives and friends are all invited to attend the funeral Mass that will be held at Mothe Funeral Home Chapel located at 7040 Lapalco, Blvd.

Marrero, LA on Saturday, September 22nd at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Leland will be laid to rest with his loving wife, together forever, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Gates of Heaven Mausoleum at 600 Avenue A in Westwego, LA where Military Honors will be held.
