Obituary for Mrs. Leola Young Obituary When she received her Cross …. On August 16,1916, in Beaufort County, SC, Sister Leola Chisholm Young was born to the late Andrew and Hattie Chisholm. She accepted Christ at an early age under the guidance of a Christian family, she accepted Christ at an early age.
Her time to Learn… Leola attended the public school of Beaufort County, and went on to become a nurse. As the Matriarch of her family, Sis Leola would share the knowledge she acquired over the years to encourage the children she mentored and cared for. Her time to Serve… Sis Leola was a faithful member of The Historic First African Baptist Church of Savannah, where she was recognized as the oldest living member.
There she served on the usher board, sang in the choir, and was a Senior Saints. Also, Sis. Leola was a faithful member of the Order of Eastern Star, until her health prevented active participation.
Her Time to Love … On October 17, 1938, Sis. Leola Chisholm united in Holy Matrimony with the late John Young, and to this union their son, Robert–was born. Her Christian life was as the fragrance of a beautiful rose, and aura of her devoted love will permeate in the lives of her children forever.
When she received her Crown…. On Veteran’s Day, Sunday November 11, 2018, The Mighty Solider Sis. Leola C. Young received her final orders, and reported for heavenly duty.
While at home surrounded by her loving family, she bid them farewell. She was preceded in death by her husband John Young and son Robert Young. She leaves many to cherish her memory, including: her loving grandchildren who she raised as her own; Virginia Young, Regina, Beautina, and Anthony Holmes; a special great-grand Daughter and caregiver Latrell (Demetry) Frazier, great grandsons; Brian (Shameeka) Young, and Joseph Busby Jr. great great Grandchildren, nieces, Ruth Ann Cohen, Virginia Gross, Charlene (Larry) Carter, Nephews: Freddie Lee, Elijah Lee, Alexander Lee a great nieces, Tracy Cohen and, Cheryl Gross, great nephews: Earl (Shari) Cohen, Alonzo Gross,Darrell Lee, Nathaniel Lee, cousins Ethel Lee Mumford, Margarite Walls, and a loving God-Daughter and Son; Ms. Crystal M. Satcher, Craig Satcher and a special adopted daughter, Beautine Young.
