Leona “Lee”‘s Obituary On Thursday, May 2, 2019, Leona (Lee) Agnes Dahl went to be with her Heavenly Father. She was our treasured mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to so many. Lee was born the daughter of James and Agnes (Houser) Praska on September 29, 1938 in Park River.

She received her education in Park River and went on to obtain her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Lake Region Junior College in 1964. Lee married Marvin Dahl on January 7, 1955 in Crookston, MN, which was the beginning of a 61 year marriage. She and Marvin lived and raised their family in Devils Lake.

Lee was a nurse at Lake Region Clinic for 28 years, working for both Dr. Pine and Dr. Montaniel. She also worked for a short time at Sweetwater Elementary School as a paraprofessional and as a nurse at Heartland Care Center. In her retirement years, she was a full-time grandma and she loved every minute of it!

After her husband passed away, she was a volunteer grandma at both Heartland Childcare Center and Head Start. Lee lived a life of service in so many areas and to so many people. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Her life was a blessing and she lived it to the fullest! She touched many hearts with her thoughtfulness and blessings. She was always babysitting either her grandchildren or neighbor children (in her words “enjoying them”), cooking, baking or lending a hand in whatever way she could to a friend.

Some of our baking favorites were her from scratch chocolate cake, homemade lefse, Aunt Sally cookies and raisin cream pie. There were always homemade treats at the Dahl home. She had a love of adventure and travel, from parasailing in her retirement years to travelling to places like Norway, Italy, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico as well as most of the United States.

She always lived each day to the fullest. She is survived by her children: Dale (Noreen) Dahl, Lori (Tim) Friezen, Robert (Sally) Dahl and Karissa (Rich) Olson, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Ray Praska of Seattle, WA, sister-in-law, Shirley (Ray) Rollness of Langdon, ND as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin on October 7, 2016, sisters, Barb Staven and Florence Longie and brother-in-law Harvey Dahl, nephew, Rodney Longie and one great-granddaughter Morgan Dahl.

“I will love you forever, I will love you for always! ” She is forever loved and will be dearly missed. Honoring moms wishes, a private family service was held Sunday.
