Leona Mae “Susie” Hazelton, 82, of Sullivan Rd. Wellsboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at her home. She was the wife of the late Jerry L. Hazelton, Sr. for 52 years until his passing on July 21, 2009.

She was born on August 18, 1936 in Wellsboro, the daughter of the late Hugh and Martha (Luther) Starkweather. Susie was a graduate of Wellsboro High School and worked for Galeton Production for 20 years. She worked most of her life on the family dairy farm.

She loved cooking, hunting, fishing and reading a good book. She also loved her dogs. Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Donald (Teresa) Hazelton of Covington; Bruce (Natalie) Hazelton of Lancaster; and Jerry Hazelton, Jr. of Wellsboro; a daughter, Sandra Hazelton of Lancaster; a brother, Wesley Starkweather of Wellsboro; and several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Susie was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin, Donald and Thomas Starkweather; a sister, Alice Grunhagen and a granddaughter, Stacey Hazelton. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Wednesday, January 9, 2019, from 2-4:00 p.m. and from 6-8:00 p.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., 139 Main Street, Wellsboro. Susie’s funeral service will be Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Kenneth Martin officiating.

Burial will take place in the West Branch Cemetery.
