Hartsville, SC Services for Leona Thompson age 74 will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 1:30pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Heber Watson will be conducting the services, directed by Norton Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will held one hour prior to the services at the church. Mrs. Thompson passed away on March 3, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Roland Norton Thompson and Mary Magalene Mincey.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. She loved to dance/clog and was a member of Carolina Country Cloggers and The Sandhill Kickers. She was the family Matriarch, a loving mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her children, Lisa (Danny Solomon) Kelly, Hartsville, Angelia Atkinson, Charlotte, NC, Donald Gene Atkinson, Jr. Hartsville, Carmen (Renee) Purvis, Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Robinson, Maegan Robinson, Christian Thompson, April Astralla, Celeste (Jack) Graham, Eric Astralla, Shane Kelly; great grandchildren, Daniel Threatt, Emma Manley and Chelsea Robinson; siblings, Jeanette Oliver, Hartsville, Evelyn Chisholm, Hartsville, Linda Jones, Cheraw, Rusty Thompson, Ruby, Jay “Loland” Thompson, Coward, Marvin Thompson, Lake City. She was preceded in death by siblings, James Jernigan, Leo Thompson, Leonard Thompson and Margaret Holden.
