Obituary for Leonard Giardelli Leonard Giardelli, age 92 of Newton, passed away on Tuesday, January 15th, 2019 at the Valley View Nursing Home in Newton, NJ. Born in Brooklyn, to the late Joseph and Florence (Strumpler) Giardelli, Leonard lived in Queens, NY, and Newfoundland and Manasquan, NJ, before settling in Newton four years ago. A US Army veteran, Leonard proudly served his country in World War II.

Following his discharge from the military, Leonard worked as a longshoreman for Atlantic Container Lines in Port Elizabeth. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus in Manasquan. Predeceased by his daughter, Viola Asencio in 1988 and grandson Leonard Asencio in 2006, as well as four siblings, Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline (Hollander) Giardelli; daughters Louise Giardelli of Hampton Twp.

, and Florence and husband Hobart Drew of Wantage, NJ; and sister, Dorothy Ring of Howard Beach, NY. Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation for Leonard will be held on Friday, January 18th, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ 07416.

A Funeral Mass will be at 12 Noon on Saturday, January 19th, at the St. Joseph’s RC Church in Newton. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph’s RC Church Cemetery in West Milford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 350 S. South Sparta Avenue, Sparta, NJ 07871 or Valley View RHCC, One Summit Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860.
