Leon H. Matheny, 84 of Coolville, Ohio passed away October 18, 2018 at Belpre Landing. He was born Januyar 12, 1934 in Parkersburg, WV. He grew up in Belpre, Ohio with his late parents Dayton and Cora Matheny.

He graduated from Belpre High School in 1953 where he was a member of Belpre High School’s first football team. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1954 and served in the Pacific for 3 years, and one year as a recruiter on the Lake Erie District. He was employed by Marbon Chemical in 1959 and retired from G.E.

He is survived by one son Dave (Becky) Matheny of Little Hocking, Ohio and on daughter Elizabeth Matheny of Belpre, and four grandchildren, Carly Matheny, Taili Matheny, and Baili Matheny of Little Hocking and Kristen Jeppsson of Costa Rica. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Services will be on Monday at 8:00 PM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Pastor Dave Hubbard officiating.
