Leroy’s Obituary On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, God called home one of his own; Leroy Baker. Leroy, 88, of 6803 Brentwood Rd, Suffolk, Virginia. , transitioned at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 6, 1931 in Capron, Virginia to the late Willie and Lucy H. Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Catherine R. Baker and only brother, Willie Thomas Baker. Leroy was a very faithful member of Laurel Hill United Church of Christ, where he served faithfully on the Usher Board Ministry.

He was also a member of the Family and Friends of the Holland Community Center and Local Union 2426 U.A.W. Leroy retired from Planters Standard Brand Peanuts in 1994 after 40 years of service. Leroy leaves to cherish his memory his six children, Bettye B. Walton (Marion) of Suffolk; Sheila B. Moody (Reginald) of Suffolk; Erwin Baker of Suffolk; Wayne Baker (Sylvia) of Suffolk; Bernadette B. Hargrove (James) of Suffolk and Valerie B. Mason (Sheppard) of Branchville, VA. ; Nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two sister-in-laws, Eulla R. Hunter (Jerone) of Suffolk and Mrs. Brenda Diggs of Emporia, VA.

, one brother-n-law Minister Anthony Russell (Linda) of Franklin, VA. , two adopted daughters; Shavon (Darnell) Walden of Fort Belvoir, VA. and Sherita Holland of Suffolk, VA.

; a special cousin, Beatrice H. Hunter (Thomas) of Suffolk, VA. ; a devoted and loving companion Mrs. Margaret Walton of Windsor, VA. , and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
