Lester Clifton Montandon, 91, of Elkhart passed away on Monday May 6, 2019 at Elkhart Hospice House. Lester was born on November 27, 1927 in Campaign, TN to LC and Zora (Bryant) Montandon, and came to Elkhart on Christmas Day, 1950. For the past few decades, he has wintered in Lake Okeechobee, FL.

He married Betty Benedict, his high school sweetheart, on October 28, 1995 in Elkhart. Lester graduated from Pleasant Hill Academy. He honorably served his country during WWII in the United States Air Force.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the VFW. He was an Electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 153 for over 62 years. He worked for Workinger Electric and K&S Electric.

Lester was an avid golfer, cardplayer, dancer and a good friend to many. But most of all he was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great- grandpa (i.e. the best! ).

Lester is survived by his wife, Betty, his daughter Linda (John) Weaver of Chicago, IL. , son, Ronald (Dennis Slade) Montandon of Mishawaka, step-son Tony Montandon of Kalamazoo, MI. His grandchildren, Sara (Alan) Weaver Wright of Marietta, GA.

, John W. Weaver II of South Bend, IN, Matthew (Anne) Weaver of Chicago, IL. , Todd (Jamie) Montandon of White Pigeon, MI. , and TJ Montandon of Constantine, MI and seven great grandchildren.

As well as his siblings, Ann Wright and GL Wilcher both of Tennessee. Visitation will begin at 10 am followed by funeral services at 11:00am on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN. Interment will follow at Rice Cemetery.
