Obituary for Levonia S. Jones Levonia Spruill Jones passed away peacefully on Sunday September 2nd at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Parry Wyche Jones. Levonia was the loving mother of Waverly Shepard Jones, Patricia Vernette Jones and Carla Levonne Jones Williams, Grandmother to Justin Jones, Heather Wong, Aaron Wong, Ciara Williams and Daegan Williams.

She was one of eleven children and is survived by 4 sisters: Edna Hill, Georgia Hill, Dorothy Monroe and Vera Allen, and one brother, Nesbitt Spruill. Levonia loved children and earned a Masters in Early Childhood Education at Lehman College. She taught at the Spuyten Duyvil Infantry Preschool in Riverdale, was Educational Director of the Early Childhood Center at Church of our Savior in Yonkers, a substitute teacher in the Yonkers Public School System and was on the Board of the Happy Harbor Child Care Center at North Yonkers Community Church.

She was very involved in both her community and her church. She was active in the Yonkers Fair Housing Committee, Yonkers YWCA, Jack and Jill of America, and served for many years at the North Yonkers Community Church in multiple capacities .
