Jewett City – Lillian B. Skoczylas, 92, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. She was born March 15, 1926 in Jewett City the daughter of Eugene and Alfreda (Audet) Chabot. Lillian attended Griswold High School.

Following that she became a weaver at Ashland Mill. It was hard work but she loved it and was proud to always meet her weekly quota. On her 19th birthday she met the love of her life, Joseph Skoczylas.

They were married on April 24, 1948 at St. Mary’s Church in Jewett City. She became a homemaker after the birth of her children and was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and wife. She was predeceased by her husband, parents and two brothers, Roland Chabot and Donald Chabot.

Lillian is survived by two daughters Joanne Harding (Terry) of Griswold, Debra Bowen (John) of Mystic, grandson Patrick Bowen, granddaughter Casey Bowen, one sister Marguerite Carroll of Plainfield and nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone at Colonial Health and Rehab for their care and kindness extended to Lillian. A calling hour will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 9:45-10:45AM at the Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Road, Jewett City, CT.

A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00AM at St. Mary’s Church, Jewett City. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Griswold. For online condolences, please go to www.
