Chesterfield, SC Mrs. Lillian “Nig” Grant Hunter Caulder, age 94, entered into rest on Sunday, January 6, 2019. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at First Southern Methodist Church by Rev. Bill Brock and Dr. Jack Jarrett, with the eulogy being delivered by her grandson, Brad Cauthen.

Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home and other times at Mrs. Caulder’s home. Mrs. Caulder was born December 27, 1924 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late John Bunyan and Lillie Belle Grant Hunter.

A charter member of First Southern Methodist Church, Nig was former chairman of the board of Stewards and former President and member of the W.M.S. She also served as former Sunday school teacher, choir member and church treasurer for many years. Mrs. Caulder retired from Cheraw High School after working many years in the lunchroom.

A loving wife, dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Caulder was truly the matriarch of her family. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, woodworking with crafts, and bird watching. She had a special place in her heart for all animals.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Caulder was also preceded in death by her husband, Hadley Thomas Caulder; brothers, Theodore and Jule Hunter; sisters, Novella Kelly, Vandelia White, Berte Douglas, and Christine Douglas. Survivors include her sons, Hadley T. “Tommy” Caulder, Jr., and Timothy Lee (Diane) Caulder both of Chesterfield, SC; daughters, Freda Caulder Miller of Chesterfield, SC, Nancy (Alvin) Cauthen of Rockingham, NC, Darlene C. (Tommy) Wright, and Trudy C. (Otto) Hancock both of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Charlotte (Randy) Emery, Todd (April) Cauthen, Charles (Carol) Miller, Jr., Brad Cauthen, Michelle (Cody) Smith, Amy (Jay Roscoe) Caulder, Eric Caulder, Ashley (Corbin) Hatchell, and Hadleigh Smith; great grandchildren, Clara, Orey, Ollie, Kennedy, Taylor, Lily, Sam, Kodak, Rem, and Emma. Memorials may be made to First Southern Methodist Church, c/o Patsy Caulder, 5096 Teals Mill Road, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
