Funeral service for Linda M. Groves, age 74, of Decatur, will be Thursday, May 2, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service.

Interment will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Groves, who died Monday, April 29, 2019, at UAB, was born November 27, 1944, in Cullman, to Marvin Marty and Lonie Stephens Marty. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Christy Lee, her husband, Ed Groves, and her parents.

Mrs. Groves was a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, and retired from Alabama State Police following 27 years of service. She is survived by two sons, Jamie L. Lee (Jennifer) of Montgomery, and Edgar Rand Groves, III (Rachel) of Hartselle; two daughters, Tonya Groves Russell (Ronny) of Decatur, and Donna Groves Reed (Dee) of Huntsville; one brother, Alva Ray Marty (Carolyn) of Cullman; two sisters, Carol Noneaker of Cullman, and Debbie McGriff (Byron) of Eva; six grandchildren, Allison Slayton, Anna Lee, Nathan Reed, Daniel Reed, Olivia Groves, and Bella Groves; and one great-grandson, Wyatt Evans. Pallbearers will be Daniel Marty, Robby Marty, Andy Bradshaw, Brad Boy, John Mark Waynick, and Jeff Simmons.
