Linda M. Hayner, 73 of Scotia, passed away on Saturday, June 16th following a short illness. Linda was born on November 3, 1944 in Malone, NY, a daughter of Austin and C. Agnes Leahy. She was one of four children, survived by her sister, Alice Rosetta Gokey, her brother, Austin Leahy, her sister-in-law, Margaret Leahy (Lawrence), and her brother-in-law, William Hayner.

She was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence Leahy and her cherished friend, Emily Clancy. On November 13, 1965 Linda married the love of her life, Joseph (Dick) Hayner. She is survived by her husband; and children, Heather Milewski (Anthony) and Jennifer Kaufmann (David).

She is also survived by her beloved granddaughter, Sarah Frances Milewski. Linda loved to travel with her husband, and they especially enjoyed their time in York Beach Maine over the past five decades. They spent the past few summers in York, and she treasured the time she was able to spend there with her nieces Diane and Robin.

She worked at Mohawk National Bank for many years before joining Northeast Parent & Child Society, where she worked for the past 30 years enriching the lives of troubled youths at their school. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 22nd from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Bekkering Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave, Scotia, NY 12302.
