Linda Williams was born September 1, 1958, in Chambers County, Alabama, to the late George Williams and the late Willie Mae Williams. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Moody, Alabama.

Linda began her education in St. Clair County School System. In high school she played guard for the first competing girl’s basketball team at St. Clair County High School. After completing high school, she continued her education at Wallace State Community College and later became a certified phlebotomist.

Linda worked at the Alabama Community Blood Bank and worked in hospitals as a traveling phlebotomist in other states. Linda was also a valued employee at Savage’s Bakery in Homewood, Alabama, for many years. While employed at Savage’s Bakery, Linda became a personal and close friend of the owner, Van Scott and his mother.

Linda was extremely close to her family and she cherished family time and vacations. Even at her sickest moments, her face would light up at the mention of a family gathering. Linda made her transition from this expression of life on Thursday evening, April 19, 2018, at 5:57 pm, surrounded by a host of family and friends at Brookwood Hospital – Princeton.

Linda also was an organ donor, so she will help others with her unselfish final act. Linda was preceded in death by three brothers: Jimmy Williams, George “Georgie Boy” Williams, Jr., and Samuel Williams, Sr., her father George Williams, and mother Willie Mae Williams. She leaves to cherish a loving daughter, Melanie Williams; two granddaughters: Mackenzie and Maliyah Slaughter; four sisters: Mable Williams of Chicago, IL, Mary Lyons, Deborah (Burnis) Rose, and Lisa (Ronald) White all of Birmingham, AL; three brothers: Bishop James Williams, Sr., of Chicago, IL, Arthur Lee Evans of Columbia, South Carolina, and Randy (Patricia) Williams of Birmingham, AL; three aunts: Annie Pearl Woods of Opelika, AL, Lula Mae Woods and Mary Emma Woods of Lafayette, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
