Linwood “Bill” W. Stancil, Jr., 87, of Summerville, husband of Jan A. Stancil awakened in heaven Thursday, May 2, 2019. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 10 o’clock to 11 o’clock at Cathedral, 3790 Ashley Phosphate Rd. , North Charleston, SC 29418.

A memorial service will begin at 11 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cathedral, 3790 Ashley Phosphate Rd. , North Charleston, SC 29418.

Bill was born on June 6, 1931 in Newport News, VA, son of the late Linwood and Helen Stancil. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from NC State University. After a tour in the US Navy he went on to start his career at Lockheed Martin Corporation.

After retiring he came on staff as a pastor with Cathedral. Bill enjoyed golfing, fishing and sailing. Survivors in addition to his wife Jan of 54 years are: one son: William L. Stancil of Charleston; and one sister: Ann Burr of Newport News, VA.
