OBITUARY Lois Augusta Pokorny January 15, 1927 – December 1, 2018 Lois A. Pokorny, 91, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018 in Longmont, Colorado with her daughter and grandchildren by her bedside. Lois was born January 15, 1927 to Carl and Judith Aasen in St. Paul, Minnesota. She had an older sister, Florence, and younger brother, Don.

When Lois was seven years old, the family moved to Portland, Oregon. Here the family worked picking berries and eventually purchased a dairy farm. Lois was nominated for Portland’s Rose Festival Queen, sang in her church and school choirs, and graduated from Franklin High School in 1945.

During World War II, Lois worked at the shipyards in Portland. After World War ll; Lois worked as secretary to Fred Meier, owner of the Meier & Frank department store in Portland. She began attending Evangelical United Brethren Church where she met her future husband, George.

They were married on February 27, 1948 at the same church where they met. Soon after, George got a job with United Airlines and the couple moved to San Francisco, CA. Here they welcomed three children.

In 1961, the family moved to Northglenn, Colorado when United opened the pilot training center in Denver. Lois sold Avon products and worked as a legal secretary for the law firm of Holland & Hart in Denver; retiring in 1989. George and Lois spent many happy days building and enjoying their cabin in Summit County.

Lois also enjoyed helping out with her eight grandchildren and attending all the special events in their lives. Lois is survived by son, Paul, and his wife, Toni, and grandson, Bryan; daughter-in-law, Joni, and grandchildren Jenny, Luke, Matthew, and Brooke; daughter, Anita, and her husband, Ken, and grandchildren Mike, Chris, and Nicole Lehrer; 3 great granddaughters, Ada, Ella, and Payton; sister-in-law, Gay; brother-in-law Thomas and his wife Nancy; many nieces and grandnieces; many nephews and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother, husband George, and beloved son, Mark.

She will be deeply missed.
