OBITUARY Lois D Hagler May 15, 1941 – February 1, 2019 Lois D. Hagler, age 77, resident of Opelika, Alabama, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at her residence. Graveside services are scheduled at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, 2:30 p.m. with Chaplain Keith Dobbe officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 12 noon till 2 p.m. Mrs. Hagler, daughter of the late Anthony Adukinas and Hilda Zimmerman Adukinas, was born May 15, 1941 in Minersville, Pennsylvania.

She worked at Bibb and Anderson Mills for several years, then began a career in Child Care Development at First Baptist Church Phenix City, Alabama Christian Childcare Development Center for over 12 years before retiring. Mrs. Hagler was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Fletcher McCollister American Legion, Post 135, Phenix City, Alabama. She was Methodist by faith who always thought of others before herself.

Mrs. Hagler loved her family immensely, and loved animals; enjoyed working with crafts; playing Gin Rummy and Scrabble with her family (which she won most of the time); worked hard at anything she did; and was regarded as the matriarch of her family. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Koth; and a brother, Joe Adukinas. Mrs. Hagler is survived by her husband of 58 years, James D. Hagler of Opelika, Alabama; two daughters, Cheryl Macon of Columbus and Karen Fortune and her husband Wayne, also of Columbus; a son, Jimmy Hagler of Opelika, Alabama; nice grandchildren, Michelle, Crystal, Ariel, Bridgett, Jimmy, Christopher, Nikki, Holly, and Lil’ Wayne; fourteen great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

FAMILY Anthony Adukinas, Father Hilda Adukinas, Mother Jean Koth, Sister Joe Adukinas, Brother James D. Hagler, Husband Cheryl Macon, Daughter Karen (Wayne) Fortune, Daughter Jimmy Hagler, Son Mrs. Hagler also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Michelle, Crystal, Ariel, Bridgett, Jimmy, Christopher, Nikki, Holly, and Lil’ Wayne; fourteen great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends to cherish her memories.
