Funeral services for Lois Jirmasek of Salol, MN will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11 AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Falun Cemetery.

Lois Jean Jirmasek of Salol, MN passed away on April 27, 2018 at the LakeWood Health Center in Baudette, MN at the age of 74. Lois was born on October 10, 1943 in Salol, MN to Lenore (McDermott) and Lawrence Monkman. She grew up in Salol, MN and later attended school to become a LPN.

She married Robert Johnson and to this marriage were born four children, Kevin, Darcy, Tammy and Mitch. She and George Jirmasek were married on November 27, 1974 and had Kelly. In addition to her work on the family farm, Lois worked for several years as a LPN at the nursing home in Roseau.

Lois loved to cook, bake, and work in the garden. She enjoyed taking care of their large farmyard which had many flower beds. Lois canned pickles, beans, and many other fruits and vegetables.

She also enjoyed making jelly and juice from their home grown apples and grapes. She always had cookies, coffee, and meals available when friends, family, and neighbors would stop by for a visit at the farm. Family was very important to Lois.

She was always willing to care for everyone. She is survived by her children, Kevin (Marie) Johnson of Salol, MN, Tammy (Frank) Sindelir of Baudette, MN, Mitchum (Denise) Johnson of Thief River Falls, MN and Kelly (Jeremy) Hulst of Salol, MN; grandchildren, Connie (Brian) Levin, Kyle (Laurel) Krahn, Kaitlyn, Jace and Jeron Hulst; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Hudson and Zander Levin; and siblings, Dennis (Diane) Monkman of Salol, Doug (Shirley) Monkman of Iowa, Larry (Marvel) Monkman of Salol and Gwen (Charlie) Lavergne of South Junction, MB as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Darcy; husband, George in 2016; and sister, Geraldine Santl.
