Loristine Davis Rhodes February 5, 1952 – December 22, 2018 Loristine Davis Rhodes was born in Forrest City, Arkansas on February 5, 1952 to the late Gennie B. (Barnes) Johnson and Wilson Johnson, Sr. Loristine spent her childhood years on Linden Island and attended Evans School. Throughout her lifetime she developed many loyal friendships while working for the Beal family, the Elphingstone family, the Liebling family, the Tony family, and the McDaniel family for more than thirty years. She was known by many for her amazing cooking skills.

She was very passionate while preparing food and loved sharing recipes and encouraging others to “sample” the best. She worked for the County Kitchen of the St. Francis County Fair as a lead cook for approximately thirty-five years. Loristine accepted Christ at an early age.

She was a faithful and devoted member of the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Forrest City, Arkansas under the leadership of Reverend Julius Turnipseed. She held multiple titles and positions in the church including Usher, Sunday School teacher, Choir member, Kitchen Committee, and Church Custodian. Wherever she was needed, she would serve proudly.

Loristine was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was one of her greatest passions in life. She treasured each moment spent with her grandchildren, which often led to picture-taking on a regular basis.

Loristine was united in holy matrimony to Chester Davis, Sr. in 1970, with whom she remained a loving and devoted wife until his transition to eternal rest March 13, 2001. She later united in holy matrimony to Albert Rhodes on September 24, 2004 and remained a loving and devoted wife until his transition to eternal rest July 17, 2017. Our beloved Loris was called home to eternal rest Saturday, the 22nd day of December, 2018.

Along with her first husband–Chester Davis, Sr. and her second husband–Albert Rhodes, she was also preceded in death by her daughter- Gloria Hunter-Davis; her parents–Gennie B. and Wilson Johnson; five sisters–Dorthy Lee Jimmerson, Gerldine Banks, Robertta Johnson, Mary Sims, Diane Johnson; and three brothers–Roy Johnson, Leo Johnson, and David Johnson. She leaves to cherish her precious memory four sons–Tony Born: February 5, 1952 Death: December 22, 2018 (Melissa) Johnson of Lafayette, Indiana, Tyrone Davis of Marion, Arkansas, Michael and Curtis (Melinda) Davis of Forrest City, Arkansas; a special nephew who was more like a son–Demarco Johnson of Forrest City, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four sisters–Murliene (William) Knight of Memphis, Tennessee, Mae Helen (Calvin) Jimmerson and Marilyn Johnson of Forrest City, Arkansas, Wanda Johnson of Terrell, Texas; six brothers–Kenny (Kate) Johnson of Munson, Indiana, Napoleon, Curtis, Clarence, Wilson Jr. and Anthony Johnson of Lafayette, Indiana; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including a special friend she loved dearly–Constance (John) McDaniel of Forrest City, Arkansas. Friends and relatives are invited to post messages and share memories.
