Louis “Lou” Allen Wienhoff, age 80, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at his home. Lou was born on September 30, 1938 in St. Louis, MO, a son of the late Charles M. Wienhoff and Zella M. (Williams) Wienhoff. On July 3, 1956, Lou married Geneva J. Willis, the love of his life, in Hernando, MS.

Lou retired from the St. Louis Terminal Railroad in St. Louis MO, as a diesel mechanic after many years of dedicated service. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Lou also enjoyed playing the harmonica and many other instruments.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Lou loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by four brothers and by two sisters. He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-two years, Geneva Wienhoff of Granite City, IL; loving children, Rebecca (Lonnie) Lancaster of Granite City, IL, Jeffrey (Pamela) Wienhoff of Huntsville, AL, Elaine (Barry) Reynolds of Pinckneyville, IL, David (Barbara) Wienhoff of Edwardsville, IL and Julia (James) Isaak of Noble, IL; proud grandfather to ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two brothers; four sisters; many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.

In celebration of his life, a memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
