WORCESTER – Louis P. Jacques, 75, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center in Worcester after a long illness. He leaves his wife, Jacqueline, 3 stepchildren, Mark Notarangelo, Michael Notarangelo, and Jacqueline Lowell and her husband Jon, and his granddaughter Lilliana Lowell, all of Worcester. He also leaves a brother, Robert Jacques and his wife Francine of Shrewsbury, and two sisters, Sister Michele Jacques, SSA of Worcester, and Elise Jacques and her husband George Kelley of Thompson, CT; two nephews, Robert Jacques of Shrewsbury, Daniel Jacques of Holden and a niece, Michele Kelley of Cambridge.

Louis graduated from Assumption Preparatory School and the College of the Holy Cross where he majored in mathematics. He served three years in the United States Army, including two years in Vietnam during the war. He lived in Vietnam for 3 years after completion of his military duties working for a transportation company.

On return to the United States, he completed a Master’s Program in mathematics at Lowell State College. He worked as a systems analyst for many years at Paul Revere Insurance Company and later BGS. Louis was defined by his love of chess, and was a long-standing member of the Greater Worcester Chess Club, meeting regularly at the Worcester Hibernian Cultural Center.

For several years he gave private chess lessons and received great pleasure from the interaction with his students. The family wishes to thank Louis’ physicians, nurses and caregivers at Beaumont and the Salmon Hospice team for their compassionate care. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Christopher Parish, 950 West Boylston St., Worcester.

Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at the Church. Burial with military honors will be at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louis’ memory can be sent to Marie Anne Center, Sisters of Saint Anne, 236 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605.

Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, is in care of arrangements.
