Obituary for Louise D. Cross OBITUARY FOR LOUISE DUKE CROSS Louise Duke Cross went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Louise loved to be with family and friends. Her 80+ year membership in First Baptist Church meant everything to her.

Louise was born in El Paso, the daughter of Newton and Vida Duke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col.

Ralph H. Cross. Her family includes daughter Connie Cross Pope and husband F. Patrick Pope, grandsons Patrick Duke Pope (Chri) and Zachary B. Pope, great grandsons Joshua (Lydia), Reece, Patrick and Cameron Pope. Louise graduated from El Paso High School at 16.

Graduating from Mary Harden Baylor she returned to teach home economics to returning soldiers during World War II at EPHS. In 1964 she obtained a pilot’s license and flew their airplane with her husband as her co-pilot for many years. She traveled extensively with her family and great friends, including all 50 states, many European countries, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Japan, through the Panama Canal and the Copper Canyon of Mexico.

The celebration of her life will be held on Monday October 1, 2018 at her beloved First Baptist Church (Ford Chapel) 805 Montana, with fellowship and viewing (Parlor) an hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Foundation or a charity of your choosing. Private interment will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
