She was a lifelong Seattle resident, and longtime member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church on Queen Anne Hill. Louise was a popular teacher of high school French and Spanish, an ardent lover of music and a gifted organist.
She was well known in the Seattle area for her devotion to providing beautiful organ music for many brides, parishioners and the bereaved. She was a gracious friend and hostess to a worldwide circle of family and friends. Having these people in her life was one of her greatest blessings.
Louise was born in Seattle, WA, on October 16, 1932 to Marco and Mary aLegaz. She was the last surviving sibling amongst her five brothers and two sisters: Michael, Joseph, Leo, Louie, Clarence (“Jerry”), Mary Ann (Brusich), and Alice (David). She graduated from Holy Names Academy and Seattle University.
She continued her French studies with Madame Marchand, famous for the Marchand Method of Instruction, at The Sorbonne in Paris. She retired from a long career teaching French and Spanish at Ingraham High School in Seattle. From the age of 15, she pursued a life-long avocation as an organist.
At different times in her life, she was the organist at three parishes, St. Anne, St. Bernadette and Our Lady of Fatima. Louise was well known throughout the Seattle area for her devotion to providing beautiful organ music for many brides, parishioners and the bereaved. Another of Louise’s lasting pursuits was traveling the world.
From her early trips to France, to her last excursion, to follow in the steps of St. Paul, she made countless friends along the way. Her connections spanned the years from elementary school to her final years volunteering at the Northwest Kidney Center. Louise helped her beloved sister, Mary Ann, through her fight with kidney disease.
In her memory, Louise began volunteering many hours at the Kidney Center, sitting with dialysis patients who had no one else. Later in life she felt called to become a Third Order Carmelite. Louiseis greatly loved and missed by the many loving family and friends who survive her.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:15 AM followed by The Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM Friday, January 25th BOTH at St. Anne Catholic Church 1411 1stAve W, Seattle 98119 A Reception in the Church Hall will directly follow the Mass. Interment will be at 2:30 PM, at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery. Remembrances may be made by Mass Cards or to the Northwest Kidney Centers Foundation, PO Box 3035, Seattle, WA 98114.
