Louise E. Ekes age 94 of Genoa City, WI passed away January 11, 2019. She was born on September 14, 1924 in Milwaukee, WI. The daughter of the late William and Helen (Drom) Prohl.

On April 6, 1946 in Oak Creek, WI she was united in marriage to John Ekes who preceded her in death in 1999. All who knew her, during her 94 years on this earth loved her. Nowhere could you find a better role model as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, volunteer, neighbor and friend.

Even near the end of her life, she continued to share her generosity, beautiful smile and sense of humor with all those around her. During her life Louise was very active at the First Congregational UCC Church of Genoa City and spent many hours volunteering there as well as at the Genoa City Library. She was a past member of the Women’s Fellowship Bykota.

Former member of the 4H. She was a member of the Rebechas Woman’s Legion. Louise enjoyed sewing, reading and music.

She could be found many of days sitting in her screen house, just enjoying life. Louise is survived by her four children: John (Ellen) Ekes of Burlington, WI. Robert (Rosemary) Ekes of Winchester, KY.

, Bonnie Appel of Crystal Lake, IL. , and Bette Yentz of Madison, WI. Further survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Sister of Jean Sponder of Greenfield, WI. and William Prohl of Greenfield, WI. She was preceded in death by her sister Sophia Holtz.

A Celebration of Louise’s life will be held on Monday January 21, 2019 at 11:00AM at the First Congregational UCC Church 624 Park St. Genoa City, WI 53128. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. Memorials in Louise’s name can be made to either the church or Hospice Alliance 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd.
