OBITUARY Louise West “Lukie” Scruggs January 7, 1931 – January 31, 2019 Louise West Scruggs, 88, of Rustburg, went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, January 31, 2019 at her residence. She was the devoted wife of Wesley Roger Scruggs for sixty-nine years. Born January 7, 1931 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Carlton Louis and Unie Brooks West Perdue and was also preceded in death by five brothers, Lewis C. West, Ray West, Melvin L. West, Clarence West, and William West and a sister, Dorothy Brooks.

Mrs. Scruggs was retired from General Electric and was a longtime member of The Lynchburg Church of God of Prophecy. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Roger L. Scruggs of Lynchburg, Gwen S. Mills and husband Kent of Rustburg, and Rodney L. Scruggs (Brandie Cummins), also of Rustburg and one sister, Shirley W. Harris and husband C.W. of Lynchburg. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brandon Mills and wife Erin, Eric Mills, Taylor Guill and husband Christian, Charlie Scruggs and wife Amaris, Wesley Scruggs, Sean Scruggs, and William Scruggs; two great grandchildren, Caroline Mills and Layla Mills and a sister-in-law, Doris West.

A funeral service to celebrate Louise’s life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Gary L. Vernon and The Rev. Charlie Scruggs officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 5:00 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2019 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
