OBITUARY Luanna Jean Handley July 9, 1933 – August 7, 2018 Luanna Jean Handley was born at home in Battle Ground on July 9, 1933 to Alfred and Frances Jorgenson. She passed away August 7, 2018 in Tualatin, Oregon. In 1958, Luanna married Charles Howard Handley.

The two both attended Walla Walla College but only met at a friend’s wedding where Luanna was a bridesmaid and Howard was a groomsman. Luanna attended Columbia Adventist Academy followed by Walla Walla College where she obtained her nursing degree. Her nursing career was spent in hospitals around the Portland Metro area including: Portland Adventist, Willamette Falls and Meridian Park.

Mrs. Handley was a devout member of Tabernacle Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she was head deaconess for many years. Whenever there was a death in the church, Luanna would be quick to host funeral dinners for the families of those that lost a loved one. Luanna will be remembered for being very hospitable, a great cook, kind, musical and talkative.

She never forgot a birthday; always sending cards to show loved ones she was thinking of them. If she hadn’t seen someone at church for a while, she would even send cards and letters letting them know she missed them. She had a real gift for floral arranging and was an excellent seamstress.

Luanna had a sharp mind and became quite enamored with puzzles later in life, making sure to exercise her mind and maintain her excellent memory. More than anything else, Luanna enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She took care of each of them at one time or another and they all loved their grandma.

Luanna is survived by her husband Howard Handley, son Dan (Jennifer) Handley, daughter Jeannie (Joe) Schmid, and grandchildren: Charles and Nicholas Handley and Ryan, Jacob and Hailey Schmid. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1st at 3pm at Tabernacle Seventh-Day Adventist, 26 SW Condor Way, Portland.
