Lucille Pearsall Thomas, 85, a resident of Los Angeles, California, passed away, November 21, 2018, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Lucille was born in Sheffield, AL, October 15, 1933, the youngest of four children (2 boys / 2 girls) born to Jackson and Naomi Pearsall. Lucille attended Leighton Training School Alabama and Graduated in 1951.

She then attended Alabama A&M University. In March of 1955, she joined the Order of Eastern Star and remained a member until her recent death. 1958… Read More » was a good year for Lucille, she moved from Alabama to Los Angeles California with her brother Vera “Lee”, (deceased).

In August of 1960, while working in the downtown Los Angeles Sewing district, she met, fell in love, and later married Eurick Robert L. Thomas. To this union was born three beautiful children, Yolanda Thomas Dewgarde, Eurick “Donny” Thomas Jr., and Laufele Thomas. Lucille spent over 20 years employed with the Los Angeles Unified School District, working at numerous schools throughout the county.

A committed follower of Christ, Lucille became a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church (70’s to present). She participated in community outreaches such as holiday food-drives.

She volunteered monthly with St. John Baptist Church, providing food to the needy. During her last 3 years of life, in declining health, she moved to Mississippi with her daughter and family; she attended Northside AOG Church. She remained a servant of Christ to the very end: a regular at services and Bible study and a spiritual mother to young believers.

She helped yearly in the ministry of sharing the Gospel to Mardi Gras parade attendees. Lucille, lovingly known as “MaDear” was preceded in death by her husband, Eurick Robert Thomas; one sister Richella Brown; two brothers Vera “Lee” White and Andrew “Jackie-boy” Pearsall; one grandson David Thomas; one niece Revonda Pearsall; and one nephew Ralph White. To cherish her beautiful memories, Lucille “Madear” Thomas leaves her three children: Yolanda (Glenn), Laufele (Kim), Eurick Jr (Jeannie); a loving sister Ruthie Pearsall Williams; seven grandchildren: Hope, Daniel, Lajanique “Lala”, Michaela, Gabrielle “Rosy”, Adriana, Laufele Jr., Xavier; three great-grandchildren: Angelina, Aajaiah and Brian; a number of beloved nieces and nephews; and a host of other incredible relatives, family and friends!

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Northside Assembly of God Church, 14901 Lemoyne Blvd, Biloxi, MS 39532. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 3669 W 54th St, Los Angeles, CA 90043 The family of Mrs. Lucille Pearsall Thomas has entrusted her care to the professional staff of Richmond August Funeral Home, Biloxi.
