Lucille Tyson Smith, age 85, answered the Master’s call and entered Eternal rest, Monday, January 8, 2019, while a patient at Stanly Manor, Albemarle, North Carolina. She was born June 17, 1933 in Anson County North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Cora Mae Tyson Legrand and Junior Legrand. Lucille will be remembered for her fashions, especially the beautifully adorned matching hats; and her great sense of humor and adventure.

She was educated in the public schools of Anson County and was employed with Wiscassett Mills, Albemarle for many years. Lucille was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Badin, North Carolina where she was a member of the Pastor’s Aide, Senior Choir, Holy Week Community Choir and Missionary Department.

In her leisure, she enjoyed bowling, completing word search puzzles, cooking, singing and traveling with her friends. Her mother and stepfather; husband, Leroy Smith; son, Willie Davis Stanback, Jr.; siblings: Pallis Alston, Lenora Mark, Annie Mae Leak, Catherine Herbin, Martha Crump, Felix Legrand, Sr., Elmer Legrand, Cecil Legrand and Samuel Legrand preceded her in death. Precious memories will be cherished by: granddaughter, LaShendra Stanback (Jamal); great grandchildren: DyAngelo, Dereka, Dontarius, Divine, Jaiivion, Alexiya and Jaiimere; daughter-in-law, Shelia Stanback; God-daughters: Robin Huntley and Sharon Davis; special friend, Dorothy Gardener & Val Sturdivant; God-son, Derrick Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
