Luis Radomin Salaverria Pierantoni age 90, a resident of Sierra Vista passed away at home Friday, December 28, 2018. He was born March 12, 1928 in Penuelas, Puerto Rico to Radomin and Virginia Salaverria. Luis was the oldest of six siblings and while growing up was an aspiring athlete due to his love of baseball.

He enjoyed playing the game and watching his Detroit Tigers and L.A. Dodgers every season. Luis served with distinction in the U.S. Army for over 20 years and retired at the rank of 1st Sergeant. His love of the Army would lead him to serve as a Civil Servant Budget Analyst for another 20 years.

His family remembers him as always ready to help those that were less fortunate than himself weather it being contributions to the church or helping those living in shelters. He lived a full life of love, laughter and service to his family and nation. He will be greatly missed.

Luis is survived by his wife of 65 years Luz Salaverria Escobar of Sierra Vista; daughter Doris Violeta Mitchell; grandchildren Miguel Luis Cervantes, Cristina Maria Cervantes, Alejandro Jorge Cervantes and Aiden M. Mitchell. Services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church 800 N. Taylor Dr. Sierra Vista. The Rosary will begin at 8:30 AM; Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM followed by at time of Visitation until 11:00 AM.

Interment with full military Honors will follow at 12 Noon at the Southern Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery 1300 Buffalo Solider Trail Sierra Vista, AZ.
