OBITUARY Luther G. Terry February 18, 1921 – September 14, 2018 Luther G. Terry Luther G. Terry, 97, of Hot Springs, AR (formerly of Urbana) passed from this earth on September 14, 2018. Born February 18, 1921 in Mayview, IL, he was the son of Judge G. and Elvira (Koch) Terry. He received 4 bronze stars while serving in the 272nd Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army in WW II.
His regiment took part in liberating Leipzig, Germany. He married Jacqueline Colbert Miller in1969. He retired from Jewel Companies.
He enjoyed playing the sousaphone in various community bands. He was a member of University Place Christian Church and played in the hand bell choir. He enjoyed traveling across the US and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jackie Terry; stepdaughter Cindy Reiter (John); step-grandchildren Faye Guenther; James Reiter (Juliet); and Amanda Braun (Eric); great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Lowell, a sister, and stepsons Jeff and Scott Miller. At the request of the family, no services are being held at this time.
Memorial contributions in Luther’s name may be made to University Place Christian Church in Champaign in support of their music ministry.
