LuVerna I. Lutz, age 96, of Parkers Prairie, died on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2019, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie with Pastor Christopher Watson officiating. Music is provided by pianist, Mavis Blake.

Interment will take place at Parkers Prairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. LuVerna Irene was born on January 12, 1923, to Adolph and Minnie (Karger) Blake in North Effington.

She graduated from Parkers Prairie High School. Following her education, LuVerna moved to Portland, Oregon to work as a nannie. She also worked at a restaurant for five years.

She was united in marriage to Marchel Lutz in November of 1955, in Stevenson, Washington. Following their marriage, she worked for a drapery company for 21 years. She was divorced in 1967.

She retired as a housekeeper for a hospital in Portland at the age of 62 years and moved back to Parkers Prairie in 1992. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed embroidering and spending time with her cat.

She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, in 1992; brother, Ralph Blake; and sisters, Bette Ann Blake, Geneva Harbig, Arby Iverson, and Ethelwin Briese. LuVerna is survived by her brother, Marlyn (Mavis) Blake of Devils Lake, North Dakota; several nieces and nephews; and cat, Maggie. Pallbearers will be her nephews.
