Lyn was born in SLC to parents Howard Alleman and Irene Haynie Bird. She has two older brothers, Bruce (Jan) and Gary (Betty). Growing up in the SLC 1st ward she loved playing night games and walking to the candy and ice cream shops.
She has always loved porch swings, dancing and roadshows. She was a graduate of U of U. After being set up on a blind date, she soon married dark, handsome, blue-eyed Larry Ted London on Sept 17, 1965 in the SLC Temple. They settled in Morgan and raised five girls: Lacey London-Riley, Lexey (Mark) Gianfilippo, Lezley (Jamie) Simonson, Lindy (Ryan) Murray and Lori (Chad) Tarbet.
Lyn worked at Auerbach’s Beauty Salon, the US. Geological Survey, Morgan County Extension Agency, and taught school in Ogden, Morgan, and Coalville for 36 yrs. She really enjoyed the group of teachers she was able to work and carpool with and had fun planning school programs and dressing up as Ms. Frizzle to teach science.
She loved each and every one of her 2nd graders and would write them notes about how unique and wonderful they were. Lyn valued church service and served as a Primary Teacher and President; YW Teacher, Counselor and Stake Director; Girl’s Camp Director; Dance Director, Ward and Stake Relief Society President; Sunday School teacher; Ogden Temple Ordinance Worker; Family History Consultant; and Visiting Teacher. She had always wanted to travel and was thrilled when later in life she was able to go on church history tours back east, and to England, Ireland and Scotland.
She also traveled to Australia and New Zealand with her sister-in-law, Jan where we were all shocked she tried parasailing at the ripe young age of 72! She was the best mom and grandma. She loved to sew, cook, read, garden and make things.
She taught 4-H and loved to do crafts. She made birthday parties and every holiday unique and fun with her creative ideas. Her grandchildren: Alex, AJ, Jackie, Jordan, Kade, Kaleb, Kyra, Kambri, Serena, Sophie, Gyver, Sadie, Wade, Levi and Justin will miss her head kisses, cookies, popsicles, chocolate turtles and stories on the couch.
The family would like to thank everyone at Advanced Health Clinic and Encompass Hospice Services for the kind and loving care they provided to Lyn and family.
