Obituary of Mabel Broughton Broughton, Mabel Age 84, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Born in Wardell, Missouri on February 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Cephus McGee, Sr. and Beatrice McGee. She is predeceased by her daughter, Denise Broughton, as well as siblings, Jeremiah McGee, Dorothy Ragin, and Naomi Wilson.

Survivors include Bishop Cephus (Verlene) McGee of Elmira, NY (brother) and George McGee of Las Vegas, NV (brother). Mabel was a quiet and compassionate person. She traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad for 20 years with her former spouse Leo Broughton (now deceased) during the time he served as Master Sergeant in the US Army.

She was a member of All Saints Home C.O.G.I.C. in Elmira. Prior to relocating from Buffalo, NY, she was a member of Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C. Thanks to the Chemung County Nursing Facility staff where Mabel resided for approximately 7 years. Thanks also to the Arnot Ogden Medical Center staff for your professionalism at every level.

Special thanks to Mabel’s family and friends who lovingly supported her by visits and concern. Family and friends are invited to her funeral service on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 12 noon at the Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave. , Elmira.

Superintendent Kenneth W. Reed, Pastor of All Saints Home C.O.G.I.C. is the officiant. Committal and burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, Administrative Assistant Willie Flurence officiating.
