Obituary for Madelyn Frances Cruz MADELYN FRANCES CRUZ, 99 years old, died September 10, 2018, in Bakersfield, CA. She was born October 9, 1918, in Los Angeles, CA, to Don Porfirio and Maria Rivera Rodriguez. Madelyn graduated from Kern County Union High School in 1935.

She was born into a musical family. All of her seven siblings played an instrument. Madelyn played the piano, and her music was enjoyed by everyone who heard her play.

She loved music, she loved to dance, which she did well into her 90s, she loved camping with her family; reading, and trips to Las Vegas, Reno, and Lake Tahoe to play the slots. Madelyn was the last sibling of a generation. She loved and cared about every member of this very large family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don Porfirio and Maria Rivera Rodriguez; husband, Primo Cruz; longtime companion, Mike Lopez; son, John “Nikki” Cruz; daughter, Dolores “Loli” Carrillo; brothers, Salvador Rodriguez, Reynaldo Rodriguez; sisters, Anita Sanchez, Marie Rodriguez, Rose Sotello, Sally Arteaga, and Evelina Angeles. She will be greatly missed by sons, Armando Cruz and Ronald Cruz; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and too many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews to name, but each who could say she touched their lives in a loving and caring way. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Greenlawn Funeral Home Northeast, 3700 River Blvd.
