Mae Dell Trice passionately called by her children “Plum and “Sweet Babe Mae” was born on March 4, 1956 to Mr. James Ackles and Mrs. Della Stigger Ackles in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She passed away peacefully with loving family by her side on May 17, 2019 at Baptist Medical Center Little Rock. Mae Dell attended Holman school system where she was a majorette.
She was employed as a Cook at Mrs. Avery’s Kitchen for several years. She was also a caregiver for many. At an early age, Mae Dell confessed a hope in Jesus Christ.
She was a faithful and active member of Allen Temple Missionary Baptist Church for several years under the leadership of Pastor Gilbert Byrd. She highly esteemed her service with Allen Temple’s Usher Board and as a passionate Cook for the church. Early in her Christian’s journey she decided “I rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God”.
(Psalms 84:10) Later in life, she joined the congregants as -Mother of the Church – at Free for All Missionary Baptist Church in Griffin, Georgia under the pastorate of Revered E.T. Burton for approximately three year then returned home. Being instrumental in her children’s lives, she was awarded “Band Mother of the Year” in 2005. She also exhibited much compassion for children and young people.
Her home had an open-door policy as a “safe haven” in the community for many children through the years, turning no child away that was in need of LOVE. Her aspirations and dreams were for one day to open a battered women’s shelter and in her leisure time to travel. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
